“Sometimes, words cannot convey our depth of gratitude. This is one of those times. Thank you for sharing the joy of The Foundation for Hospital Art/Pfizer Pediatric Health PaintFest with the patients and employees of Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children. It is a rare occasion when an entire organization can come together to relax and have fun, while still contributing to the fundamental mission of their work, in this case, the children entrusted to our care. The results of PaintFest will brighten the hospital for many years to come, but the memories the event created for our patients, families, and employees will last a lifetime.”
Thomas P. Ferry

“Besides changing the look of our hospital walls, you brought magic and mostly left your spirit and courage in the war against pain, loneliness and AIDS.

There are no words to thank a person of your talent and dedication. Your work is a work of love with such a spiritual dimension that it cannot be measured in human terms.

On behalf of the entire hospital body of patients and staff, I want to thank you wholeheartedly for your everlasting gift and wish you continuous success in your work of love.“

Ayre Rubinstein, M.D.

“Words cannot express what I have seen and experienced because of the ‘Hospital Art Program’ here at Georgia Regional.
Patients involved in the absolutely most therapeutic interaction I have ever witnessed as a whole population
Staff involved and smiling like I have not seen in years
Results which are beautiful and will be a far lasting affect on the well-being of so many people both now and in the future.”
Marty Ness

“The Art Committee visited Memorial [ Sloan Kettering] this morning. We all toured the tunnel, and everyone was delighted with your wonderful accomplishments there. You have many grateful friends at Memorial [ Sloan Kettering] and will continue to have them over the years.”
Mrs. Mary Rockefeller

“I think that art can definitely be part of the healing process. I think that the hospital atmosphere is often not conducive to healing. We know more and more now that healing is a mental process as well as a physical process. And, I think what John [ Feight] is trying to do here, and what he is doing very well, is opening up the hospital atmosphere and providing an atmosphere where not only the body can get well, but the mind can also get well.”
Dr. Edward Bayne
University Hospital
Jacksonville, FL

“Art can help defuse the fears that so many of these kids have. It also gives kids that have been poked and prodded a chance to express themselves. It's less threatening to produce emotions via art, and we appreciate the value of art in the hospital setting.”
Dr. Stephen Levine
Director of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Children's Hospital of New Orleans
New Orleans, LA

“Even patients who are even a little doped and scared to death follow the animals with their eyes as they go to surgery and it never fails to bring a smile to the faces of those who roll through in their chairs.”
Alana Shepherd
The Shepherd Center
Atlanta, GA

“To be able to look up and see paintings instead of just ceiling tiles cheers them (patients) up. It's very symbolic to some people who are in wheelchairs to see butterflies, and envision transcending and rising above their circumstances.”
Pam McClure
Art Specialist
The Shepherd Center
Atlanta, GA

“When you see the kid's faces and how intense some of them get painting…you are able to see the difference you are making.”
Sheri Mosely
Child Life Specialist & Program Manager
Arnold Palmer Hospital For Children and Women
Orlando, FL

“Thanks for the great time [we] had painting. Aside from being therapeutic for the patients, it's a great way for the parents and visitors to get the troubles that they are dealing with off of their minds for a while.”
Michael & Danielle Mantello
New York Presbyterian Hospital at Cornell

“We very much appreciate it and sincerely believe that this kind of work can give more happiness and hopefulness to those who are in a hospital.”
Dr. Jacob Kligerman

“You would have to pay a visit to one of Mr. Feight's hospitals in order to come to a true realization of the magnitude of his effort, and the positive impact it has on the lives of hospital patients and families. There are simply not the words to express how changed the atmosphere of a hospital becomes as a result of Mr. Feight's efforts.”
Chris Clark
Administrator Northside Hospital
Atlanta, GA

“Beautiful paintings will be seen daily by hundreds of patients, parents and members of our personnel. They are duly delightful paintings and will certainly contribute to giving hope and trust in the future to all of us. The idea is most admirable and belongs to the list of great international deeds of charity.”
Jaakko Perheentupa Professor of Pediatrics & Director

"One thing that I quickly realized is the Foundation is not about the paintings, but rather the paintings are just the process for allowing the patient or person to relax and forget about their pain. It is a method that heals the spirit and the soul along with the medical treatment received at the hospital to heal the body. The painting process is as beneficial to the volunteer as it is to the patient. As a volunteer it is easy to put aside your problems and worries in life when you see patients smiling and laughing as they paint with you."
